EAST RUTHERFORD — A prostitution ring was blown open after police arrested a man for beating a woman at the Homestead Village on Route 3 East on Oct. 8.

According to police, someone called headquarters at 3:45 a.m. to report that a black female was screaming in the hotel parking lot.

As police arrived, a red Ford Mustang reportedly shut its lights off and peeled away onto Route 3 East.

As officers broadcast information about the car, they rushed to assist the 20-year-old victim. Police said she stated that her boyfriend and pimp, 39-year-old Sean Simon of Hot Springs, Ariz., punched her numerous times after she refused to hand over $1,080.

The victim said she began to scream after Simon allegedly started choking her, threw her computer to the floor, took the money out of her purse and left the room.

East Rutherford and Secaucus police caught up with Simon on Route 3 East, where he was arrested for aggravated assault.

Additionally, officers reportedly found a bag of marijuana in the back of the car, which Simon allegedly admitted was his. 

He also had four outstanding warrants out of Atlantic City in the amount of $1,042 and one out of Rutherford for $250. But that was just the beginning, said East Rutherford Detective Capt. Edward Bury

“He had warrants out of numerous states, and each piece of ID he gave us was from a different one [state],” said  Bury. “He traveled all over the country, picking up 20- and 21-year-old girls along the way.”

When the victim was released from the hospital, she reported to police that Simon conducted business in Louisiana, Florida, California and New Jersey. In New Jersey, she told police that he rented out Homestead room numbers 105 and 146 to use for his prostitutes’ sexual activities.

“We believe he only had the one New Jersey location,” Bury said.

Police said Simon provided the victim and the others with cell phones, clothing, food and cars. According to police, the victim said the business was strictly cash and grossed $94,000 in one month.

The victim reportedly then told police other prostitutes were en route to the hotel to remove evidence.

When officers arrived, they came upon three women with the aliases of Chelsea Raye, Champagne and Cashaie in the room.

They also found suitcases filled with lingerie and women’s underwear, massage oils, lubricants, packages of unused condoms, used condoms, sex DVDs, laptops and cash scattered about.

All of it was taken into evidence; the women were not charged.

Simon’s charges, however, included aggravated assault, robbery, money laundering and promoting prostitution.

Bail was set at $70,000, no 10 percent option. He was released after his mother flew in from California and posted the full amount.

His court date was set for Oct. 19.

“He’s probably long gone by now,” Bury said, adding that the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office has been called in to investigate further.

“They can freeze his accounts and figure out how he got all that cash,” Bury said. “It’s not like he had a job.”
