LETTER TO THE EDITOR: A neighbor requests your help | (Sept. 2, 2010) — TO THE EDITOR:
On Sunday evening, Aug. 22, Dr. Lina Jacewich’s 1996 Chevrolet
Lumina, while parked in front of her residence at 110 Sunset Ave., was
viciously and maliciously vandalized. The four tires were slashed and
the auto’s body was repeatedly scratched removing the exterior paint.
Since Jacewich’s father passed away in December of 2006, she and her
89-year-old mother, Stella, have been aggressively and repeatedly
harassed. Jacewich is respectfully requesting that anyone with
information about Sunday’s deliberate vandalism contact the North
Arlington Police Department to assist in its ongoing investigation.
Dr. Linda Jacewich / North Arlington

LETTER TO THE EDITOR: Wilms’ assault was wrong | (Sept. 2, 2010) — TO THE EDITOR:
Rutherford Board of Health President Wilms’ unprecedented and
vituperous assault upon the professionalism, character and integrity of
Dr. Jadwiga Warwas must be dealt with swiftly and decisively.
The good doctor’s public denunciation of waste, abuse and
mismanagement at the health department deserves commendation, not
castigation. Her contribution to our collective understanding comes at a
time when these very issues are being raised in the statehouse, in the
press and at our council meetings. Click the READ MORE link below for the complete letter.

LETTER TO THE EDITOR: Help! | (Sept. 2, 2010) — TO THE EDITOR:
Where is the justice? Does anyone care?
There has been a shafting of two businesses and three homes (174, 178
and 182 Route 17 South, between Summit and Elizabeth streets in
Rutherford). A four-lane highway starts at Highland Cross to Elizabeth
Street. Between Highland Cross and Summit, four homes have a 10 to
15-foot buffer. There is no problem for them. Click the READ MORE link below for the complete letter.

LETTER TO THE EDITOR: Whirlwind of uncertainty | (Sept. 2, 2010) — TO THE EDITOR:
I start this letter with a short phrase I coined in the past, “When
swept up in the whirlwind of a chaotic life, never forget those close to
you and pray they never forget you.”
We are in a period in our nation’s history where politically we have
all been swept up into a whirlwind of uncertainty. Jobs, career, overall
survival. With a government that seems to be running amok, creating
more questions than answers. Many of us believe we have the answer, but
do we really? Government apparently has forgotten its people and has
gone on its way to appease foreign interests and those which benefit a
select group of people, including themselves. Click the READ MORE link below for the complete letter.

LETTER TO THE EDITOR: A warning to Carlstadt seniors | (Sept. 2, 2010) — TO THE EDITOR:
It has come to my attention that Carlstadt is considering building
senior citizen housing buildings at vacant school sites. As an East
Rutherford senior citizen, I would like my neighboring borough to think
long and hard about this decision.
East Rutherford’s senior citizen housing project was a welcomed
addition to our borough years back. However, I cannot remember how or
when it was taken away from us, but our senior housing building is now
owned by the county for years now and is used for public housing.
Carlstadt seniors — be forewarned.
It sounds like a great idea now, but will it benefit local seniors in the future?

LETTER TO THE EDITOR: Don’t lay off police | (Sept. 2, 2010) — TO THE EDITOR:
I truly can’t believe that we are considering laying off police
officers. What’s next? Volunteer police officers to fill in when we
don’t have coverage for the town?
When emergencies come up and the police officer is the first
responder, I hope everyone remembers that there will be two less and so
your first responder might not be available as quickly as we would have
in the past. Click the READ MORE link below for the complete letter.

LETTER TO THE EDITOR: Thank you | (Aug. 26, 2010) — TO THE EDITOR:
On behalf of the Mission Committee of the First Presbyterian Church
of Rutherford, I would like to thank the many, many people who came to
support our recent “Back-To-School Supply Drive” for the Rutherford
Community Pantry.
On Saturday, Aug. 7, our volunteers were thrilled to see people
arrive by car and on foot all morning with not only school supplies, but
food, cleaning items and cash donations. Click the READ MORE link below for the complete letter.

LETTER TO THE EDITOR: Thank you to NJMC | (Aug. 26, 2010) — TO THE EDITOR:
On behalf of the seniors, I would like to thank Robert Ceberio,
executive director of the New Jersey Meadowlands Commission, for his
continued support of the summer events held at the Meadowlands
Environment Center. All the engagements were very interesting and
entertaining. I encourage everyone to become a member, and, therefore,
we too would financially support the program. A special thanks to Jane
Stein, the staff of the NJMC, and all the volunteers who donate their
time and energy to these senior events.

LETTER TO THE EDITOR: A solution to Atlantic City | TO THE EDITOR:
I think state Sen. Paul Sarlo should stay out of the newspapers. I
think he should see for himself what goes on in Atlantic City. I could
tell all you politicians, there is only one way people will show up in
Atlantic City. The first step is to rebuild the entire city. The second
is to put up nice looking hotels outside the casinos at a cheap rate for
families. The third is make the boardwalk family friendly with ski ball
or anything like Keansburg has.
Sarlo, you should get both Steve Wynn and Donald Trump on board.
Horse racing in Atlantic City is always packed, so everybody from the
Meadowlands goes there.

LETTER TO THE EDITOR: Where is the public bid info? | (Aug. 19, 2010)
TO THE EDITOR:
I am writing this letter about the tax increase in Lyndhurst. As a
resident of the town, with a rental home here as well, I am appalled at
the overspending going on in such harsh economic times. My husband and I
were at the town meeting recently and Mayor Richard DiLascio’s lack of
answers is not surprising — but still frustrating.
The main reason I am writing is because Lyndhurst is planning all of
these infrastructure upgrades. Things have been going on in the town for
the past couple of years — repairs to roadways/fire hydrants (most
recently along Orient Way), building a ridiculously expensive town hall
park — but where is the public bid information for these projects? Click the READ MORE link below for the complete letter.

LETTER TO THE EDITOR: Uniforms are a great idea | (Aug. 19, 2010)
TO THE EDITOR:
School uniforms are a great idea. What no one is considering is that
when a student puts on a football, baseball, basketball or soccer
uniform, they try to achieve the best performance. The uniform gives
them pride. Look at the police; when they put on a uniform their chest
swells with pride, also firefighters. It will improve their grades. The
teachers should like this idea because they will eventually be valued on
class performance.

LETTER TO THE EDITOR: Massa sounds off | (Aug. 19, 2010)
TO THE EDITOR:
A plan or a proposal?
That’s the question before North Arlington as we move forward in
these discussions of what is the best way to redevelop our Meadowlands
parcels.
In 2006, I ran against EnCap and the Arlington Valley project with
the help of individuals like Councilmen Steve Tanelli and Mark
Yampaglia.
We won that battle. Click the READ MORE link below for the complete letter.
